This is great news! Xian was an engineering student at Carnegie-Mellon University when he did his internship with us in East Timorese in 2003. He attributed his life’s calling to serve the poor, particularly through solar lighting, to that summer when he witnessed the severe burns on a small child’s face when a kerosene lantern caused a fire.

My Story

I was humiliated. One year out of college, a junior auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, preparing for two years of humanitarian service with the Peace Corps, I was locked up behind bars. Finger prints, mug shots, and my name, John T. Henry, was placed on police record for loitering on the streets of Baltimore.
