Participation • responsibility • consent
Shared expectations for safe and fruitful programs.
These terms describe the responsibilities of participants, program leaders, hosts and YWAM Student Centre. Applying or registering for a program indicates agreement with the terms applicable to that program.
Program leaders and hosts
- Accurately describe responsibilities, schedules, costs, accommodation, transportation and safety considerations.
- Create an environment of hospitality, learning, honor, respect and appropriate supervision.
- Review applications promptly, orient participants and maintain clear communication.
- Provide regular feedback, a final debrief and emergency instructions.
- Contact emergency services first when urgent care is needed, then notify the participant’s emergency contact and YWAM Student Centre.
Participant responsibilities
- Provide accurate application information, references and required payments.
- Complete orientation, assignments and preparation by stated deadlines.
- Follow host-community guidelines, respect confidentiality and participate in required meetings.
- Arrange appropriate travel and medical insurance when required, including emergency evacuation coverage for international programs.
- Take responsibility for personal expenses and understand that Fellowships and outreaches are volunteer learning experiences, not employment.
Health, travel and consent
Programs may require evidence of travel protection. Participants authorize reasonable emergency treatment when they cannot provide timely consent. Program-specific medical, safeguarding, visa, travel and risk requirements will be communicated separately. Participants must disclose information necessary for safe participation through the designated secure process.
Liability and conduct
Participation may involve travel, service, physical activity and unfamiliar environments. Participants accept ordinary risks associated with the program and agree to follow safety directions. Nothing on this page waives rights that cannot lawfully be waived. Serious misconduct, unsafe behavior or material violation of program expectations may result in removal from a program.
Applications, media and changes
Submitting an application confirms that the applicant has read and agreed to the applicable terms. Public descriptions or photographs are used only with appropriate permission. Personal contact information is not intentionally published. Program details may change because of safety, host capacity, travel conditions or other circumstances.
