Four decades of university missions
A history of learning, serving and going.
Since 1986, our network has coordinated internships, outreaches, residential courses, seminars, conferences and leadership consultations across more than forty nations.
1980s — Internship foundations
Early orientation programs in Kona prepared multidisciplinary teams for placements in the Caribbean, Pacific, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Projects included medicine, education, social work, agriculture, business, journalism, engineering and video.
1990s — International expansion
Internships and leadership seminars expanded through Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, Ghana, Rwanda, Albania, Kenya, China, Mongolia, India, Azerbaijan and South Korea. In 1997 the Student Centre was commissioned through the University of the Nations.
2000s — Schools and university ministries
Teams and training served East Timor, India, Colombia, Costa Rica, Thailand, Peru and other locations. Schools of University Ministries & Missions and University DTS programs strengthened long-term campus ministry leadership.
2010s and 2020s — Formation and local roots
Work continued through consultations, workshops, university discipleship courses and international outreach. Since 2022, local ministry near Stockton University has included the DISCIPLE Course, WHO I AM Intensives, mentoring and Haven House partnerships.
A broad vocational witness
Across the decades, participants have served through healthcare, education, social services, communications, business, environmental work, engineering, counseling, the arts and local church ministry. The consistent goal is to help people connect what they learn with how they love and serve.
