Start a Campus Discipleship Group

Step 1: The Table

With God’s help, you can change your campus culture, starting at a table.

Your campus is an amazing mission field. You can follow Jesus’ method. Jesus did not sit on a throne; he sat at tables.

We offer a free guide to start your own Table discussion group, with weekly plans and menus that follow 2000 years of the advance of God’s kingdom.

“I think it is a very powerful message and should be shared with as many people as possible. I have certainly passed it on. The whole point of eating as part of divine fellowship is crucial to who we are as human beings.” - David Aikman

Step 2: Form a Core Team

After the 8-week Missional Table meals are finished, share the vision with one or two people. Ask them to join your core team. Make sure everyone understands and believes the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-8).

You can begin by praying together, asking God what breaks His heart and what would give Him the most pleasure on campus. What you hear together is your mission on campus. Of course, the core team members can start their own Missional Table with their own friends and classmates.

As you continue to build relationships, consider leading a DISCIPLE Course, a WHO I AM Weekend Intensive, or a Converge Team Outreach.

Your small steps of obedience to Jesus will help build relationships in Christ (1 John 4:7-8). Stay connected to Jesus and each other (1 John 15:5). Encourage each other (1 Thes. 5:11). And invite members of a local church community to join your Campus Discipleship Group (Eph. 4:3). Reach out to us if you want to talk it through.

DISCIPLE COURSE

Learn together about God’s purpose for the university (Eph. 3:10) and for every kind of faithful work (Eph. 2:10). Understand together Christ’s mission to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. (Hab. 2:14). Learn more here.

WHO I AM Weekend Intensives

Meet with a YWAM Student Centre team member to begin planning this amazing Student Retreat. Learn more here.

CONVERGE FELLOWSHIPS

Pray with two or more Core Team members about where and when you and fellow students could go. We can help you with information about field location options, travel preparations, and we offer the YWAM Team Outreach App to help you manage all the administrative details with ease. Learn more here.

Step 3: Pray for the Campus

To missionally engage the campus with the Good News of Jesus, you need to first spend time listening to Him.

If you have already completed Steps 1 & 2, you should have learned how to pray and listen together by following Joy Dawson’s Principles for Effective Intercession.

To bring the hope of Christ to every student on your campus, this is probably the most important thing the Campus Missions group can do together.

Campus Group Partners

You can register your campus group as a host partner for Converge Programs. Lead an outreach or a course and use the Converge App to make all the coordination simple and easy.
